Job Description

The Urban Renewal Authority (URA) is tasked to undertake, encourage, promote and facilitate urban renewal of Hong Kong in accordance with the provisions of the Urban Renewal Authority Ordinance and the Urban Renewal Strategy published by the Government. The URA adopts a comprehensive and holistic approach by ways of its two core businesses i.e. redevelopment and rehabilitation, as well as preservation, revitalisation and retrofitting, for creating a sustainable and quality living environment for the people of Hong Kong.

Reporting tothe Senior Management, the Corporate Sustainability Strategist serves as the strategic lead and subject matter expert responsible for driving the Authority's corporate sustainability strategies and initiatives.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead and formulate the Authority's corporate sustainability strategies and initiatives. Monitor and translate local and global regulations into actionable internal sustainability polices to ensure adoption of best practices.

  • Provide strategic oversight on corporate and divisional sustainability-related business activities. Propose new initiatives, provide expert advisory and actively participate in key working groups while tracking progress.

  • Oversee and monitorthe implementation of the Authority's carbon reduction roadmap. Collaborate closely with all divisions to effectively track the progress of divisional initiatives aimed at achieving the Authority's carbon-neutral goals.

  • Lead and conductthorough sustainability assessments for the Authority's redevelopment, revitalization, and rehabilitation projects utilizing the Authority's Sustainability Framework. Analyze and report performance across the five key domains: Economy, Environment, Social, Process, and People.

  • Direct the overall strategy and content developmentfor the Authority's annual sustainability report.Identify, gather, and highlight the key sustainability achievements from all divisions to ensure comprehensive and accurate disclosures.

  • Strategically identify and managesubmission processes for prestigious awards, accreditations, and recognitions to continuously elevate the Authority's reputation in sustainable urban renewal.

  • Formulate and manage the corporate sustainability budget. Oversee the scoping, procurement, tender evaluation, and performance of external consultants appointed for various services for corporate sustainability.

Requirements:

  • Degree holder in Environmental Science, Sustainability, Corporate Social Responsibility, or a related discipline. A master's degree is preferred.

  • Minimum 10 years of relevant experience in corporate sustainability, with a proven track record in a managerial role.

  • In-depth expertise in compiling corporate sustainability reports in accordance with international standards (e.g., GRI, TCFD, ISSB).

  • Solid understanding of carbon accounting, climate-related risk assessments, and carbon reduction strategies.

  • Experience in conducting sustainability assessments for large-scale projects is highly desirable.

  • Strong stakeholder engagement and communication skills, with the ability to influence cross-divisional teams.

  • High proficiency in data analytics to track performance metrics and translate data into executive insights.

  • Excellent command of both written and spoken English and Chinese.
