Our client is a leading Asia-focused multi-strategy hedge fund with a strong institutional investor base and an expanding global presence. The firm operates across equities, macro, and multi-asset strategies, supported by a sophisticated infrastructure and best-in-class operational platform.

As part of continued platform growth, they are looking to hire a Corporate Actions specialist to join their Hong Kong office.

The Opportunity

This is a high-impact, specialist role within the Operations function, focusing on corporate actions across global equity portfolios.

You will work closely with Portfolio Managers, Traders, Prime Brokers, and internal teams to manage event-driven processes and ensure accurate handling of all corporate actions.

The role offers:

Key Responsibilities

Corporate Actions Ownership

  • Monitor, capture, and process all mandatory and voluntary corporate actions across global equity positions
  • Maintain an accurate and timely corporate actions event calendar

Event Analysis & PM Advisory

  • Analyze corporate action terms and assess impact on portfolios and P&L
  • Communicate key details, deadlines, and implications to Portfolio Managers
  • Support PMs in decision-making for voluntary events (e.g. rights issues, tender offers)

Election Management

  • Coordinate and execute elections for voluntary corporate actions
  • Ensure accurate and timely submission to custodians and prime brokers
  • Manage critical deadlines and escalation processes

Booking, Validation & Reconciliation

  • Ensure accurate booking of corporate action events (cash and stock entitlements)
  • Perform reconciliation of expected vs actual proceeds
  • Investigate and resolve discrepancies with brokers, custodians, and fund administrators

Complex Event Handling

  • Take ownership of high-impact and non-standard events, including:
    • Mergers & acquisitions
    • Spin-offs
    • Restructurings
    • Cross-border events across Asia, US, and Europe

Stakeholder Management

  • Liaise with:
    • Portfolio Managers and Traders
    • Equities Operations team
    • Prime brokers and custodians
    • Fund administrators

Risk Control & Process Improvement

  • Maintain robust controls to prevent missed elections or mis-bookings
  • Identify process gaps and implement improvements
  • Contribute to automation and scalability initiatives

Candidate Profile

Education

  • Degree in Finance, Economics, Accounting, or related discipline
  • CFA or other relevant qualifications are advantageous

Experience

  • 3+ years of experience in corporate actions / asset servicing
  • Experience within:
    • Hedge funds (highly preferred), OR
    • Investment banks, custodians, or asset managers
  • Strong exposure to equities corporate actions, including voluntary events

Technical Skills

  • Solid understanding of:
    • Corporate actions lifecycle
    • Global equity markets and settlement frameworks
  • Familiarity with data/vendor sources (e.g. Bloomberg, custodian feeds)
  • Experience with OMS/PMS platforms is a plus
  • Advanced Excel exposure to automation tools (Python/VBA) is beneficial

  • Ability to manage multiple time-sensitive events and deadlines
  • Excellent communication skills with front office stakeholders
  • High level of ownership and risk awareness

Regional Experience (Preferred)

  • Exposure to Asia markets, including:
    • Hong Kong / China (Stock Connect)
    • Japan / other regional exchanges
  • Experience handling cross-border corporate actions is highly desirable
