Job Description

Lectron is a leading manufacturer of electric vehicle (EV) charging solutions, committed to making EV ownership simpler, faster, and more accessible. Since 2017, we've built a reputation for innovation, quality, and reliability—delivering best-in-class home chargers, portable charging stations, and adapters compatible with every major EV standard. Today, more than 18% of US EV drivers own a Lectron product.

We're a trusted supplier to global automakers for the North American market including Ford, Tesla, VW Group, Porsche, Toyota, General Motors and Mercedes-Benz, and our products are widely available across major retail platforms such as Amazon, AutoZone, Best Buy, CarMax, Carvana, and Walmart.

Publications like Wirecutter and Car and Driver consistently rank Lectron among the top EV charging brands in the U.S.

We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Bi-directional Electrical Design Engineer to develop our next-generation Bidirectional Charging products.

What You Will Do:

  1. Responsible for the electrical schematic design of bi-directional power conversion products, including topology selection, key component selection, parameter calculation, and system-level design optimization for performance, efficiency, and reliability.
  2. Lead the electrical architecture design and control strategy coordination for V2G (Vehicle-to-Grid), V2H (Vehicle-to-Home), and V2X application scenarios, ensuring effective management of bidirectional energy flow.
  3. Execute core circuit design (e.g., high-voltage/low-voltage AC/DC, DC/DC converters), including schematic capture and providing guidance for PCB layout and BOM preparation.
  4. Participate in defining and verifying technical specifications, ensuring compliance with V2X-related international and local communication/electrical standards (e.g., electrical requirements stemming from protocols like ISO 15118, OCPP 2.0.1).
  5. Responsible for Design Verification Testing (DVT), covering function, performance, reliability, safety, and EMC tests. Strictly verify stability and grid interaction capability, especially under bidirectional operating modes.
  6. Collaborate closely with firmware, mechanical, and manufacturing teams to resolve technical issues during product development and production ramp-up.
  7. Participate in the research of new technologies and components, evaluating their potential for integration into advanced bidirectional charging solutions.
  8. Complete other relevant technical tasks assigned by the company.

What You Will Bring:

  1. Bachelor's degree or above in Power Electronics, Electrical Engineering, Automation, or a related field.
  2. Minimum of 5 years of electrical design experience with high-power, bidirectional conversion products.
  3. Essential Requirement: Proven development experience with V2G (Vehicle-to-Grid), V2H (Vehicle-to-Home), or V2X products, with a deep understanding of the interaction requirements between the vehicle and the grid/home energy systems.
  4. Proficiency in bi-directional AC/DC and/or DC/DC topologies, with a solid foundation in power electronics theory.
  5. Strong command of V2X-related safety standards and electrical interface protocols, including but not limited to ISO 15118 (especially the V2G aspect) and relevant grid-side interconnection standards.
  6. Familiarity with key component selection (e.g., GaN/SiC, magnetic components) and possessing expertise in thermal management and EMC design.
  7. Competency in using Electronic Design Automation (EDA) software, such as Altium Designer, Cadence, and PADS, as well as simulation software such as PSpice and Simulink etc.
  8. Proactive, highly responsible, with excellent technical communication skills and a strong team-work attitude.
  9. Proficiency in English reading and writing, capable of drafting and reviewing technical documentation.
