Automation Engineer / Developer

We are seeking someone to join the Insider Risk Management Technology team in the Cyber department as an Automation Engineer to design, develop, and support automation solutions that improve operational efficiency and reduce manual effort across the organisation. The role will work closely with business and technology stakeholders to analyse processes, implement automations using UiPath and related technologies, and support the delivery of scalable and compliant solutions.

This is a Cyber Security Engineering position responsible for developing and supporting automation solutions that improve operational effectiveness while ensuring compliance with firm standards, security requirements, and SDLC practices.

What You'll Do in the Role

• Design, develop, test, and deploy automation solutions using UiPath and supporting technologies.
• Work with stakeholders to understand business processes and identify automation opportunities.
• Participate in the full SDLC, including requirements gathering, development, testing, deployment, and production support.
• Develop and maintain technical documentation, process documentation, and support artefacts.
• Troubleshoot and resolve issues affecting automation solutions in development and production environments.
• Contribute to process improvement initiatives, helping streamline workflows and reduce manual effort.
• Follow engineering standards, governance controls, and best practices to deliver reliable and supportable solutions.
• Collaborate with senior engineers, architects, and operations teams to implement scalable automation solutions.

What You'll Bring to the Role

• 2–5 years of experience in Automation Engineering, Software Engineering, or a related technology role.
• Hands-on experience with UiPath Studio and Orchestrator or similar automation platforms.
• Experience developing automation or software solutions using Python, C#, Java, or similar programming languages.
• Understanding of SDLC, source control, testing, and deployment practices. Strong development and quality practices are commonly expected in automation and SDLC-focused environments.
• Ability to analyse business processes and translate requirements into technical solutions.
• Experience troubleshooting and supporting applications in development and production environments.
• Familiarity with Git, Agile delivery methodologies, and issue-tracking tools.
• Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively across technical and business teams.
• A continuous learning mindset and willingness to develop expertise in automation, DevOps, and platform engineering.

Preferred Skills

• UiPath certification or equivalent automation experience.
• Experience with APIs, databases, and system integrations.
• Exposure to DevOps practices, CI/CD pipelines, GitHub Actions, or automation testing.
• Knowledge of observability and monitoring tools such as Splunk, Grafana, Prometheus, or similar platforms.
• Experience supporting production applications and operational processes.
• Familiarity with cloud technologies and containerised environments is advantageous
