Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or a similar field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • 7 years of industry experience in an audio related field such as speaker or microphone, or earbud.
  • Experience with consumer hardware.
  • Experience with music and media tuning, digital filter design, spatial sound, multi-mic recording and microphone beamforming.
  • Experience with standard audio measurement tools (e.g., SoundCheck, Audio Precision, and Audition).

Preferred qualifications:

  • Master's or PhD in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Acoustics, or a related discipline.
  • 9 years of industry experience in consumer hardware.
  • Experience with microphone enhancement algorithms (e.g., wind noise reduction, audio zoom, ML-based audio enhancement).
  • Experience with Machine Learning (ML) based audio enhancement, acoustics and audio electrical engineering architecture.
  • Experience with multi-channel audio format (e.g., Ambisonic, 5.1-ch surround sound).
  • Passion for audio record applications while managing conflicting system requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Own the end-to-end audio recording system solution on wearable devices, including defining, tuning, validating, and debugging the system, while coordinating algorithm enhancements with developers.
  • Lead the analysis, evaluation, and benchmarking of audio enhancement algorithm performance using objective and subjective methods.
  • Drive alignment and technical coordination with acoustic engineers on microphone architecture and placement on devices.
  • Contribute strategically to the product roadmap by investigating new technologies and delivering innovative features.
  • Partner with cross-functional teams (Electrical Engineering, Acoustics, Algorithms, Product Management) to resolve complex system issues and deliver audio recording performance. Collaborate with internal developers and external vendors to integrate and refine systems to meet next-generation product requirements.
