Established in 1987 and headquartered in Taiwan, TSMC pioneered the pure-play foundry business model with an exclusive focus on manufacturing its customers products. In 2023, the company served 528 customers with 11,895 products for high performance computing, smartphones, IoT, automotive, and consumer electronics, and is the world's largest provider of logic ICs with annual capacity of 16 million 12-inch equivalent wafers. TSMC operates fabs in Taiwan as well as manufacturing subsidiaries in Washington State, Japan and China, and its ESMC subsidiary plans to begin construction on a fab in Germany in 2024. In Arizona, TSMC is building three fabs, with the first starting 4nm production in 2025, the second by 2028, and the third by the end of the decade.
We are seeking a highly motivated Legal Compliance Attorney to join our team. The ideal candidate is a collaborative team player with fluent English, exceptional communication and organizational skills, strong problem-solving abilities, and solid legal expertise. This position is designed for a legal professional with foundational experience who is eager to grow and expand their expertise in regulatory compliance, corporate governance, and subsidiary management.
Job Responsibilities:
1. Monitor and ensure subsidiary companies comply with relevant laws and regulations by working independently and collaborating with external experts and overseas in-house counsel. Focus areas include personal data protection laws (e.g., GDPR) and securities regulations across various jurisdictions.
2. Conduct legal research and provide practical advice on compliance-related matters.
3. Support the development and implementation of compliance policies and procedures for subsidiary companies.
4. Assist in managing subsidiary governance and corporate documentation.
5. Provide guidance and oversight to ensure subsidiaries adhere to internal policies as well as local and international regulatory requirements.
6. Address routine and ad-hoc legal and compliance inquiries, offering clear and actionable recommendations to stakeholders.
7. Facilitate communication and coordination with local and overseas internal teams, as well as external experts.
8. Assist in developing and executing compliance training and awareness programs for employees.
Job Qualifications:
1. A law degree is required; J.D. or LL.B from a reputable university in an English-speaking country is preferred.
2. Qualified lawyer in Taiwan, the US, or an English-speaking country.
3. Excellent command of English and Chinese, both written and spoken; native speaker of English is preferred but not required.
4. Demonstrated interest in legal compliance and corporate governance.
5. Ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment.
6. Exceptional problem-solving abilities and attention to detail.
7. Strong communication skills with the ability to collaborate effectively across diverse stakeholders.
8. Outstanding organizational, research, and writing skills.
9. At least 3 years of prior experience with a law firm is required.
10. In addition to the law firm experiences, prior experience with an international company in the financial or semiconductor industry is preferred.
