Job Description

About Engineering Good

Engineering Good (EG) is a Singapore-based non-profit organisation founded in 2014. We harness technology, engineering and community collaboration to create practical solutions to support the needs of underserved communities and persons with disabilities (PWDs).

Our work focuses on two core areas: Digital Inclusion and Assistive Technology (AT).

Digital Inclusion

We collect, refurbish and redistribute used laptops to underserved communities, including low-income families and migrant workers, providing them with essential access to the digital world. Through our community partnerships, we also deliver digital literacy programmes that help individuals build the skills and confidence to participate meaningfully in an increasingly digital society.

By extending the useful life of donated devices, our Digital Inclusion work also contributes to environmental sustainability by reducing electronic waste.

Assistive Technology

Our AT programme brings together engineers, makers, volunteers, community partners and persons with disabilities to co-create practical and affordable AT solutions.

We take a user-centred, hands-on approach, starting with the needs of the person and working through ideation, prototyping, testing and iteration. Our solutions are typically low-to-mid-tech, affordable and open-source, addressing real-world barriers in areas such as daily living, communication, education, recreation and employment.

Our Impact

  • 12,000+ laptops refurbished and distributed
  • 28,000+ kg of e-waste diverted from landfills
  • 2,000+ assistive tech devices created
  • over 400 community partners served

Our work has helped support disadvantaged individuals in seeking upskilling courses and employment opportunities online, and enabled persons with disabilities to participate more independently in everyday activities.

If you are passionate about using your technical skills to create meaningful social impact, we would love to have you join our supportive and collaborative community!

Job Purpose

As the AT Programme Executive, you will work closely with the AT Programme Manager to deliver and coordinate EG's AT programmes, projects and solutions to meet the diverse needs of persons with disabilities and the opportunity to make a meaningful difference in their daily lives.

This is a hands-on, multi-disciplinary role that brings together technical prototyping, programme coordination, stakeholder engagement, volunteer management and administrative support.

Key Responsibilities

Technical Solution Innovation and Development

  • Provide hardware and software support for AT projects and maker space activities.
  • Support development and testing of prototypes to ensure they are practical, safe, and user-friendly
  • Iterate and refine the prototypes to minimal-viable-products (MVP) that can be deployed for use by persons with disabilities

Stakeholder & Project Management

  • Coordinate with community partners, including allied health therapists, educators, caregivers and end-users, on project and programme delivery. This includes understanding problem statements faced by PWDs, scheduling and corresponding with the stakeholders.
  • Collaborate with our Tech For Good Innovation programme participants and our community of skilled volunteers to deliver projects and solutions. This includes researching, ideating, and building feasible, innovative (low-to-mid tech) AT solutions, as well as taking meeting minutes and producing documentation.

Administrative Support & Documentation

  • Maintain and create thorough documentation of all projects for impact reporting, donor engagement, and internal records.
  • Create clear build manuals and open-source documentation to enable replication of AT solutions.
  • Assist in maintaining the makerspace, ensuring equipment and inventory are organised, accessible, and well-utilised.

Qualifications and Skills

Engineering Good is an equal opportunity employer, and hires based on skills and competency:

  • Diploma or degree in engineering (electronics, mechanical, mechatronics, biomedical, computer engineering or related field)
  • 1 - 3 years of relevant experience fresh graduates are welcome to apply.
  • Hands-on makers skills in hardware, prototyping, or coding are an advantage.
  • Passion for using technology to create social impact.

Attributes and Competencies

  • A teamplayer who enjoys collaborating with people
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills
  • Curious, adaptable, and comfortable working with diverse communities
  • Strong organisation and time management skills
  • Be solution-oriented and outcomes-focused
