Job Description:

Reporting to Vice President, Head of Strategic Finance, Asia, this role will lead Expense Management, Value Realization Office and Workplace Management in Asia.This role is key in helping the organization manage expenses, drive productivity improvements, maintain financial integrity, and support overall Regional Office operations.

Lead expense management for Asia:

• Drive discipline in expense management by institutionalizing expense principles across all businesses in Asia. Develop and implement strategies to optimize expense processes.
• Deliver regular reporting to the Asia leadership and Corporate Finance on expense trends, forecasts, and expense efficiency initiatives
• Lead the annual expense planning process ensuring Asia's annual budget is robust and aligned to strategy. Challenge BUs and regional functions budgets as appropriate.
• Build analytics to drive improvement in expense efficiency metrics. Perform market analysis to benchmark Sun Life Asia against industry peers.
• Provide business partnering to the regional DBTS function. Provide insights and analysis to support business decisions, profitability and growth initiatives.

Deliver productivity savings for Asia

• Develop detailed plans to achieve productivity savings for Asia in collaboration with the BU CFOs and Asia functional leaders
• Continuously track productivity savings vs. plan and identify remediating actions in the event of a shortfall.
• Inculcate a productivity culture by communicating key productivity levers and celebrating success

Value Realization Office

• Oversee Asia's portfolio of strategic initiatives, promoting coordination and information sharing across functional areas, stakeholders, and senior leadership. Own the project portfolio management and governance practices for Asia and be the central contact for business units on business cases, initiative tracking and value realization.

Workplace Management

• Responsible for the efficient and effective management of the Workplace Management function as well as to maintain a welcome and safe work environment for the employees in the Regional Office

Preferred skills (heading) / Compétences particulières (titre)

• Strong business acumen including knowledge of key business drivers for life insurance and asset management businesses
• Good knowledge of life insurance financial reporting as it relates to expense management. Strong knowledge of IFRS 17 would be an added advantage.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

Qualifications (heading) / Compétences (titre)

• Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration or a related field. Master's degree or MBA may be preferred

• 12+ years of progressive experience in finance or accounting roles, with 5+ years in managerial role within the insurance/financial service industry.
• Professional certifications such as CPA, CMA, or ACCA will be valuable
