Job Description

Reporting to the Associate Vice-President (Communications and Public Relations), the Senior Manager (Strategic Content) is accountable for:

  1. drafting an extensive range of strategic communications materials for the Vice-Chancellor and President and other members of the University Senior Management Team including speeches, formal correspondence, messages and forewords, apothegms, opinion pieces, speaking notes and presentation slides

  2. handling Chinese-English and English-Chinese translation of major documents commissioned by the Vice-Chancellor and President and other members of the University Senior Management Team

  3. supporting projects and strategic initiatives delivered across the Communications and Public Relations Office as well as other professional administrative services, Faculties and Colleges

  4. supervising the Content Officers of the Content Team to align content strategies across CPRO teams for key publications, and leading the full content lifecycle-from ideation and angle selection to quality assurance (this includes information accuracy) - for CPRO publications, including:

    • CUHK In Focus

    • Annual Report

    • Bulletin

    • Calendar

  5. performing other duties as assigned by the Associate Vice-President (Communications and Public Relations).


Applicants should have (i) a Bachelor's degree (and ideally a higher degree) in a relevant field such as business studies, communications, marketing, journalism, or equivalent professional experience (ii) at least twelve years of relevant post-qualification experience (iii) excellent writing skills in English and Chinese (iv) strong attention to detail and a demonstrated ability to manage confidential and sensitive information (v) demonstrated capacity to manage multiple projects simultaneously under tight deadlines (vi) excellent stakeholder engagement skills with the ability to manage complex internal and external stakeholder relations while achieving sound organisational outcomes (vii) outstanding communication skills with the ability to present to a variety of audiences in a wide range of settings and (viii) professional proficiency in English and Chinese (both Putonghua and Cantonese). Experience in higher education or science/technology journalism would be highly desirable.Appointment will initially be made on contract basis for up to two years, renewable subject to mutual agreement.
