POSITION SUMMARY
The Assistant Project Manager (APM) supports the Project Manager / Senior Project Manager in the planning, coordination, execution, monitoring, and successful delivery of construction projects in accordance with contractual requirements, quality standards, safety regulations, project timelines, budgetary targets, and company objectives.
The APM plays a key role in managing site operations, subcontractors, consultants, and stakeholders while driving the company's commitment towards Environmental, Social & Governance (ESG) initiatives and construction digitalisation efforts.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Project Planning & Coordination
- Assist in the overall planning, implementation, and execution of construction projects.
- Coordinate project activities to ensure work is completed according to approved schedules and specifications.
- Monitor project progress and identify potential delays, risks, and resource constraints.
- Support the preparation and updating of project work programmes, recovery plans, and progress reports.
- Attend project meetings with clients, consultants, subcontractors, and authorities.
- Follow up on action items arising from meetings and ensure timely closure.
Site Management
- Coordinate and supervise site activities to ensure smooth project execution.
- Work closely with Site Managers, Project Management Engineer (PME), Site Engineers, Supervisors, and subcontractors to achieve project objectives.
- Monitor site productivity and resource utilisation.
- Ensure site works comply with approved drawings, specifications, and construction methodologies.
- Assist in resolving technical and operational issues encountered on site.
Contract & Commercial Administration
- Assist in monitoring project costs and budget performance.
- Review subcontractor progress claims and work completion status.
- Support variation order submissions and claims documentation.
- Maintain proper project records, correspondence, and contractual documentation.
- Assist in project close-out activities, including defect management and final account submissions.
Quality Management
- Ensure works are carried out in accordance with approved quality standards and project specifications.
- Participate in inspections, testing, and commissioning activities.
- Coordinate with consultants and clients on quality-related matters.
- Monitor rectification works and closure of quality issues.
Workplace Safety & Health
- Promote a strong safety culture across project sites.
- Ensure compliance with Workplace Safety and Health (WSH) regulations, company policies, and project-specific safety requirements.
- Participate in safety inspections, risk assessments, and incident investigations.
- Work closely with WSH personnel to maintain a safe and healthy work environment.
- Support the achievement of Zero Accident and Zero Harm objectives.
ESG RESPONSIBILITIES
Environmental
- Support the implementation of sustainable construction practices and environmental management plans.
- Monitor waste reduction, recycling initiatives, and responsible resource utilisation on site.
- Promote energy-efficient practices and environmental compliance requirements.
- Assist in collecting and reporting environmental performance data required for ESG reporting.
Social
- Foster a respectful, inclusive, and harassment-free workplace.
- Support employee well-being, workforce engagement, and fair employment practices.
- Encourage positive relationships with workers, subcontractors, clients, and local communities.
- Participate in initiatives that promote skills development and workforce competency.
Governance
- Uphold ethical business conduct and corporate governance standards.
- Ensure compliance with company policies, regulatory requirements, and contractual obligations.
- Maintain transparency, accountability, and proper documentation in all project activities.
- Report any potential compliance breaches, unethical conduct, or project risks to management.
DIGITALISATION RESPONSIBILITIES
- Champion the adoption of digital construction technologies and productivity initiatives.
- Utilize project management software and digital platforms for project tracking and reporting.
- Support the implementation of Building Information Modelling (BIM) and digital coordination processes where applicable.
- Ensure timely updating and maintenance of digital project records and documentation.
- Promote paperless workflows and digital collaboration among project stakeholders.
- Assist management in identifying opportunities to improve productivity through automation, digitalisation, and innovation.
STAKEHOLDER MANAGEMENT
- Build and maintain strong working relationships with clients, consultants, subcontractors, suppliers, and authorities.
- Represent the company professionally during meetings and site engagements.
- Facilitate effective communication between project teams and stakeholders.
- Support client satisfaction and long-term business relationships.
REQUIREMENTS
Education
- Diploma or Degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, Building, Project Management, or related discipline.
Experience
- Minimum 3 to 5 years of relevant experience in the construction industry.
- Experience in building construction projects in Singapore is preferred.
- Familiarity with BCA, MOM, SCDF, NEA, and relevant regulatory requirements.
Technical Competencies
