Role Summary
The Assistant Engine Process Engineer supports the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of manufacturing processes for aircraft engine components and assemblies. This role works under the guidance of senior engineers and cross-functional teams to help resolve production issues, maintain process documentation, and improve safety, quality, delivery, and cost performance.
Roles and Responsibilities
• Support daily production by assisting with process-related issue investigation and resolution.
• Support the development and maintenance of SOPs, standard work, and work instructions in alignment with FLIGHT DECK principles to improve process consistency, compliance, and operational performance
• Learn and develop working knowledge of applicable engine manuals, technical manuals, and related product documentation to support compliant process execution and issue resolution
• Learn and develop proficiency in using the shop ERP system and related manufacturing systems to support production transactions, process execution, material tracking, routing updates, and documentation control
• Support the team in achieving S.Q.D.I.P. (Safety, Quality, Delivery, Inventory, Productivity) goals through disciplined execution and process improvement
• Assist in monitoring, tracking, and improving key S.Q.D.I.P. metrics within the assigned production area
• Support root cause investigations and corrective action implementation for process deviations, nonconformances, and recurring shop issues
• Coordinate with operations, quality, planning, and engineering teams to support safe, compliant, and efficient production
• Assist with tooling, fixturing, and process changes under the guidance of senior engineers
• Assist in data collection and analysis to identify process variation, waste, and improvement opportunities
Help monitor manufacturing performance including safety, quality, delivery, inventory, yield, scrap, rework, cycle time, and productivity
Required Qualifications
• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or related technical field.
• 2-3 years of experience in manufacturing, process engineering, or related industrial environment
• Basic understanding of manufacturing processes, engineering documentation, and process support in a production environment
• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, technical requirements, SOPs, and work instructions
• Demonstrated ability or willingness to learn applicable AD/SB, Engine Manual, and other technical documentation requirements
• Ability to create and maintain process documentation, including SOPs, work instructions, routers, and standard work
• Willingness to learn and use shop ERP systems and related digital tools to support manufacturing execution and production tracking
• Strong communication, teamwork, and problem-solving skills
Preferred Qualifications
• Familiarity with S.Q.D.I.P. or similar manufacturing performance metrics
• Excellent English proficiency, with the ability to read and interpret technical documents, prepare written documentation, and communicate effectively with cross-functional teams
• Experience using shop ERP systems or other manufacturing/business systems for production tracking, material transactions, or process control
• Internship, co-op, or prior experience in manufacturing, aerospace, engine assembly, repair, or industrial operations
