Job Description:
Lead hands-on application and integration development that connects SunSmart MPF and iMPF to the government-mandated eMPF INT APP, owning modules/services across the Backend-for-Frontend (BFF), API, and integration tiers. Key Responsibilities
- Operational Data Store (ODS): Design, implement, and maintain the ODS layer for the eMPF platform to support real-time and batch data synchronization between SunSmart MPF, iMPF, and downstream systems. Ensure data consistency, integrity, and optimized query performance for operational reporting and analytics.
- Deliver Secure, Compliant Software: Embed secure coding practices, data protection, and auditability meet HK IT project governance and InfoSec requirements throughout SDLC.
- Reliability & Observability: Engineer for high availability and traceability (logging/metrics/traces), incident triage, and defect prevention across advisor-facing eMPF services aligned to service expectations.
- Cloud & Platform Modernization: Contribute to ongoing AWS migration and environment hardening for apps including SunSmart MPF and iMPF collaborate with architecture and platform teams to meet timelines and readiness.
- Delivery Ownership: Groom stories with Product Owners, estimate and plan sprints, maintain backlog health, and uphold Definition of Done (DoD) including unit/integration tests and CI/CD quality gates.
- Vendor & Partner Collaboration: Work with internal/external delivery partners (e.g., system integrators) to unblock, review designs, and ensure quality hand-offs uphold Sun Life standards in code, documentation, and support models.
- Risk & Governance: Identify technical risks early (availability, security, data integrity), propose mitigations, and maintain clear runbooks and operational documentation for production readiness.
- Mentoring: Guide junior engineers on design, coding practices, code reviews, and troubleshooting cultivate a culture of continuous improvement.
Required Qualifications & Experience
- Experience: 5-8 years in software engineering, including 2 years leading small delivery streams or feature squads.
- Core Engineering Skills: Backend development (Java/Spring Boot or .NET), RESTful APIs, microservices, asynchronous patterns.
- API Security: OAuth2/OIDC, schema & contract management (OpenAPI), and integration design.
- Data Management: RDBMS/SQL and one of: PostgreSQL/Oracle familiarity with messaging (Kafka/RabbitMQ) is beneficial. Experience with ODS design and implementation is a strong advantage.
- Cloud & DevOps: CI/CD (Bitbucket/Jenkins/GitHub Actions), containerization (Docker/Kubernetes), infrastructure automation, environment configuration practical exposure to AWS services for app hosting and observability.
- Quality & Operability: Unit/integration testing, performance tuning, monitoring/alerting, and production support readiness.
- Compliance Mindset: Demonstrated adherence to IT governance, vulnerability management, and application security workflows (e.g., ISRA, policy exceptions, remediation tracking).
- Domain Knowledge: Understanding of HK MPF processes or regulated financial platforms ability to interpret interface specs and trustee/administrator instructions for eMPF/iMPF integration.
- Communication: Clear, structured communication in English Cantonese proficiency is an advantage for local stakeholder engagement.
