Job Description

Design Discipline

Major Duties:
(a) To perform teaching duties, and assist in supervision of students projects and fieldwork, placement
(b) To assist in the coordination and promotion of local and regional skills competitions, and support the training and coaching of Competitors, including reviewing their performance and providing recommendations
(c) To liaise with industry partners to provide performance assessment and training support for Competitors
(d) To assist in the development of programme curriculum and preparation of teaching, learning and assessment materials
(e) To support student and academic administration, and coordinate promotional activities related to skills and VPET in secondary schools and relevant organisations and
(f) To provide support in departmental activities, projects and functions including but not limited to consultancy services, research studies, seminars and exhibitions, and participate in industrial attachments and related activities.
Requirements:
(a) A recognised degree in Jewellery Design or equivalent professional qualifications, preferably with a post-graduate qualification
(b) Preferably with relevant teaching / industry experience / skills in more than one of the following areas:
(i) Jewellery workshop management and operation
(ii) Jewellery making technique
(iii) Jewellery gem stone setting knowledge
(iv) Sketching and Rendering
(v) Jewellery Production, Materials Applications and Processing
(vi) CAD for jewellery
(vii) Branding and marketing
(viii) Gemmology
(c) Good knowledge of the latest trends and practices in jewellery making and jewellery design
(d) Good communication and presentation skills in both English and Chinese and
(e) Good records of linkages with the industry / professional bodies would be an advantage.
Notes:
(1) The post is at the rank of Teaching Associate.
(2) Applicants with substantial experience and achievements in the relevant field but without the required academic / professional qualifications OR those with exceptional academic / professional qualifications but with less experience may also apply.
(3) Shortlisted candidate(s) will be required to take a written assessment.
(4) The post is time-limited in nature up to 31 October 2028.
(5) The appointee may be required to perform duties outside normal office hours in different locations as assigned.
