The Assistant Housekeeping Manager assists the Hotel Manager to direct and manage all aspects of Housekeeping operations, which shall include guest rooms, public areas and staff offices/ storage areas. In addition to daily housekeeping operations of the Hotel, he/ she assists to prepare and manage the yearly budget, executes the purchase of budgeted items and makes suggestions for future projects.
Main Responsibilities:
- Provide a professional, advisory and executive support service to the Hotel Manager, in meeting the strategic goals of the rooms division.
- Implement strategies aimed at cost minimisation, productivity maximisation without reduction of consistency and quality standards.
- Ensure operation runs within out looked financial framework.
- Prepare relevant departmental operational and manning budget for coming year for approval.
- Monitor and review quality standards for the Housekeeping Department.
- Coordinate and lead appropriate projects for the Housekeeping Departments.
- Monitor guest feedback closely to identify shortfalls and service recovery.
- Work closely with other departments to ensure audit compliance, including preparation of daily reports.
- Establish and maintain standards and procedures of cleanliness standards for the entire hotel.
- Supervises staffing levels and develop the duty roster to verify that guest service, operational needs, and financial objectives are met.
- Uses all available on the job training tools to train new supervisors and room attendants and provide follow-up training as necessary.
- Hands-on on the operations of the department.
The ideal candidate should be / possess:
- Minimum 3 years of experience in Housekeeping unit, with at least 1 year in a managerial capacity
- Highly motivated individual with a positive attitude
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to multi-task and work hands-on in a high volume atmosphere
- Proven ability to lead others and positively influence employee behaviour
- Computer literacy is essential
- Able to work shifts, including weekend and public holidays.
