Assistant Computer Officer
Hong Kong Internet eXchange (HKIX) is a self-financed unit in the University. Its main business is to provide interconnecting services to different networks on the Internet. HKIX is looking for suitable candidate to join the HKIX Team to provide technical support to its operations.
The appointee will be responsible for (a) administering, monitoring and troubleshooting of HKIX network and HKIX-R&E network, FTNS and data centre management, network management system support and development, and asset inventory management (b) performing project implementation, including system setup, document preparation and UAT support (c) planning and implementation of network infrastructure and (d) liaising and co-ordinating with vendors and suppliers.
Applicants should have (i) a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or equivalent disciplines (ii) at least 1 year of relevant experience in Internet infrastructure services or related fields (iii) proficiency in TCP/IP protocols, Internet routing, BGP, and Data Centre networking (iv) solid experience in LAN switching, network security and management (v) hands-on experience in structured cabling system, Linux, Internet applications, ITIL concepts, project management (vi) a good command of written and spoken English and Chinese (vii) excellent organisational, communication, problem-solving and multi-tasking skills and (viii) the ability to work independently to meet project deadlines with minimal supervision. Having knowledge and hands-on experience in cybersecurity technologies including firewalls, SIEM, IDS/IPS, EDR, MDM, IAM, MFA, DLP, DRP, vulnerability scanning and penetration testing will be an advantage.
Appointment will initially be made on a 2-year contract with contract-end gratuity commencing as soon as possible, renewable subject to good performance and mutual agreement.
