Faculty of Medicine
Assistant Computer OfficerThe appointee will be responsible for (a) providing support and maintenance for the Faculty's administrative systems (b) taking ownership of assigned application projects or system modules, including requirements gathering, solution design, development, testing, deployment, documentation and ongoing support (c) working closely with users to collect and analyse requirements, co-ordinating user acceptance testing (UAT), providing training, and ensuring successful implementation of system enhancements (d) collaborating with team members, stakeholders and vendors to deliver high-quality solutions and (e) performing other tasks as assigned.Applicants should have (i) a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Science, or a related discipline from a recognised university or technical institution (ii) solid hands-on experience and strong proficiency in Microsoft .NET (C#), PHP, Next.js, React Native, Microsoft Power Platform, MS SQL Server, and NoSQL databases (iii) experience in the full software development life cycle, including requirements analysis, solution design, development, testing, deployment, and support (iv) experience in software development project co-ordination and knowledge of Continuous Integration and Continuous Deployment (CI/CD) practices (v) hands-on experience with, or strong familiarity in, modern software development practices, including AI-assisted programming and code generation tools (vi) strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to work effectively with both technical and non-technical users (vii) a self-motivated, proactive and mature individual with a strong sense of ownership, the ability to work independently, and a willingness to collaborate closely with team members to deliver solutions and (viii) a good command of spoken and written English. Having post-qualification work experience and a proven track record in the design and development of web-based applications will be advantageous.Appointment will initially be made on contract basis for up to 2 years (with contract-end gratuity for a 2-year contract), renewable subject to good performance and mutual agreement.The University only accepts and considers applications submitted online for the post above via the CUHK career site.
