Assistant Computer Officer(s)

Hong Kong Institute of Diabetes and Obesity (HKIDO) of The Chinese University of Hong Kong is an education and research institute committed to using people development, digital technology and innovative care to predict and prevent diabetes and chronic diseases and to preserve the well-being and productivity of our fellow citizens.

HKIDO has been established for more than 25 years supported by a network of local and international experts in clinical, basic, data and implementation science focusing on using data to redefine diabetes and its management with value and precision. HKIDO works closely with other organisations to develop innovative digital tools, communication materials and professional education and community-based programs in pursuit of its visions. We are looking for candidates who share our vision to help people live a healthy and long life.

We are seeking motivated and experienced Assistant Computer Officer(s) to join our multidisciplinary healthcare-focused team. This role is ideal for applicants with strong technical and programming skills and a passion for project coordination, digital innovation, and effective communication in health and education contexts.

The appointee(s) will be responsible for (a) supporting the planning, coordination, and delivery of multidisciplinary projects in the healthcare domain (b) contributing to the development and management of digital platforms, web resources, and educational tools designed for both professional and lay audiences (c) co-ordinating and supporting multidisciplinary healthcare-related projects from planning through delivery (d) developing, maintaining, and managing websites and digital platforms (including content, functionality, and usability) (e) contributing to programming tasks, automation, and digital tool development aligned with project needs (f) supporting the use of digital tools for professional programs, patient education, and public engagement (g) liaising with healthcare professionals, educators, developers, and external stakeholders (h) assisting with documentation, reporting with timelines, and communication across teams and (i) ensuring digital outputs meet quality, accessibility, and data protection standards relevant to healthcare.

Applicants should be/have (i) a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering or Information Systems (ii) at least 1 year's work experience in the healthcare or health education fields (iii) proficiency in web-based software development using Java Platform (iv) proficiency in SQL programming, preferably with experience in MySQL (v) prior experience with the Linux and AWS (vi) prior experience with webpage or digital content management including clinical management system (vii) excellent written, verbal and digital communication skills including digital marketing (viii) familiarity with digital tools for e-learning, online training, or public health communication (ix) interested in digital health, health technology, or innovation in education (x) strong organisational skills and attentiveness to detail (xi) self-motivated, adaptable, and committed to continuous learning and (xii) the ability to work collaboratively across clinical, academic, and technical teams.
