Assistant Computer Officer (carrying the job title of AI & Data Analyst)Using data and computational techniques, the University Planning Office (UPO) provides research and analytical support for Senior Management, informing decision-making, policy formulation, and resource allocation. UPO's core responsibilities include (1) core data capabilities, serving as the institutional data custodian, and liaising with UGC, ranking agencies, and external stakeholders (2) supporting senior management by benchmarking and monitoring University performance, facilitating data-driven policy and resource planning, and providing support to the Provost's Office and (3) supporting institutional data initiatives, including process re-engineering, institutional efficiency enhancement, and leading institutional data projects.Being a core contributor to the success of UPO's mission, the appointee will be responsible for (a) supporting the adoption of AI in data collection, analysis, and reporting processes (b) automating workflows in daily operations to enhance working efficiency and consistency (c) integrating AI tools and methodologies to improve data quality in submission (d) implementing strategic (data-related) projects to provide institutional data management capabilities (e) supporting ad hoc management information analysis and enquiry needs and (f) performing other relevant duties as directed by the unit head/supervisors.Applicants should have (i) a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, AI & Machine Learning, Information Management, Data Science, or related disciplines (ii) 2 years post-qualification experience in business and system analysis, AI applications, and data management/analytics, preferably on institution-wide data integration in the higher education sector (iii) strong verbal and written communication skills in both technical and business languages (iv) a highly motivated and independent working style, with strong analytical and critical thinking skills (v) a proactive and innovative mindset in embracing and applying AI technologies in building data-driven solutions (vi) a solution-oriented mentality and problem-solving ability with good awareness of data security and data privacy and (vii) a good team player with strong interpersonal and teamwork capabilities to contribute in a cross-functional/cross-team collaborative environment. Hands-on experience in working in similar sectors will be advantageous but not mandatory. The Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK) is a public research university in Shatin, Hong Kong, formally established in 1963 by a charter granted by the Legislative Council of Hong Kong.
