Role Overview

We are seeking a dynamic and pedagogically-driven Assistant Academic Director to spearhead our teacher development initiatives and instructional excellence. This is a high-impact leadership role designed for an expert Teacher Trainer or Academic Supervisor who excels at bridging the gap between curriculum design and classroom delivery.

You will be the primary engine for faculty growth, ensuring our global teaching team isn't just delivering content, but mastering the art of online engagement. You will focus on elevating teaching standards through structured coaching, innovative onboarding, and continuous professional development (CPD).

Key Responsibilities

1. Faculty Development & Training Strategy

Design and deliver comprehensive onboarding programs for new faculty to ensure immediate alignment with TutorABC standards.

Create and facilitate monthly professional development workshops focusing on EdTech trends, student engagement, and digital pedagogy.

Develop Train-the-Trainer modules to empower Lead Teachers and Mentors across different departments.

Maintain a library of training resources, including video tutorials and best-practice guides.

2. Instructional Coaching & Observation

Lead the academic observation program, providing high-level coaching and actionable feedback to senior staff.

Analyze performance data to identify instructional gaps and design targeted interventions for underperforming segments.

Mentor Lead Teachers on how to provide constructive, empathetic, and effective feedback to their respective teams.

3. Curriculum Localization & Pedagogical Alignment

Bridge the gap between curriculum developers and teachers, ensuring that new materials are teachable and engaging.

Pilot new digital tools and teaching methodologies, gathering feedback from the front lines to refine delivery.

Review and audit proprietary curriculum for clarity, flow, and pedagogical soundness.

4. Academic Leadership & Operations

Serve as the escalation point for complex instructional issues or high-level student feedback.

Collaborate with the Product and B2B teams to ensure customized programs are launched with specialized training.

Prepare impact reports detailing how training initiatives have improved student satisfaction (NPS) and teacher retention.

Candidate Requirements

Required

35 years of experience specifically in Teacher Training, Academic Management, or Faculty Development.

Certified Expertise: A recognized TEFL/TESOL qualification (CELTA/Trinity CertTESOL required; Delta or DipTESOL highly preferred).

Proven Track Record: Experience designing training curricula or conducting formal teacher observations.

EdTech Savvy: Expert-level command of Zoom, LMS platforms, and digital whiteboarding tools.

Native-level English proficiency with exceptional public speaking and presentation skills.

Based in Taipei or willing to relocate.

Preferred

Experience managing remote/global teaching teams.

Knowledge of Adult Learning Theory or Instructional Design.

Mandarin ability to facilitate coordination between HQ and local operations.
