Job Description

The Commercial & Investment Bank (CIB) Payments Transformation & Execution team provides the opportunity to support strategic initiatives aligned with the firm's overall business goals. JP Morgan Chase's CIB Payments business is a global leader in wholesale payments, processing trillions of dollars in transactions daily for corporations, financial institutions, and governments worldwide. The platform spans treasury services, trade finance, liquidity management, FX payments, clearing, real-time payments, merchant services, and emerging digital payment rails, serving clients across developed and high-growth markets throughout the Asia-Pacific region and globally.

As an Executive Director leading Strategy on the APAC Payments Transformation & Execution team, you will drive the strategic vision and operational excellence for the APAC Payments business. You will leverage your strong understanding of the payments landscape, regional market dynamics, and evolving payment infrastructure across Asia-Pacific to develop and refine the multi-year strategy and mobilize the organization toward strategic execution.

The Transformation & Execution team collaborates with senior executives and cross-functional business partners to shape the strategic direction of the business, driving better decision-making through business intuition rooted in data. Core focus areas include: (1) Partnering to define the near-term and long-term strategy for CIB Payments across APAC markets, (2) Serving as strategic advisors embedded within regional and global leadership teams, (3) Proactively evaluating our strategy in light of competitive, client, macroeconomic, regulatory, and market infrastructure developments across APAC, (4) Red teaming to prioritize initiatives, funding, and resources effectively, (5) Catalyzing execution by reducing ambiguity and converging related efforts across products, markets, and functions, and (6) Communicating our strategy to senior firmwide stakeholders in APAC and globally.

Job Responsibilities

  • Define and drive multi-year strategies for payments across APAC, encompassing treasury services, liquidity and account solutions, trader and working capital, merchant services, channels - ensuring alignment with global CIB Payments objectives. This will be a combination of longer term engagement with key teams, as well as targeted and timebound strategic pieces of work / assessments.
  • Monitor market developments, regulatory shifts, payment infrastructure modernization efforts (e.g., real-time payment schemes, blockchain and stablecoin and CBDC adoption, genAI payments use cases), and competitor activities across APAC to refine the strategic roadmap using data-driven insights
  • Develop deep expertise in APAC market-specific dynamics, including local regulatory environments, clearing and settlement infrastructure, and client needs across key markets such as Australia, India, Greater China, Southeast Asia, Japan, and Korea
  • Collaborate with key functional partners-including sales, product, technology, operations, legal, compliance, controls, risk, and finance-to support and execute strategic initiatives
  • Build and lead a high-performing team to drive activity and deliver results
  • Provide regular updates and status reporting to senior stakeholders across the region and globally, ensuring transparency and alignment
  • Act as project manager for significant deliverables, ensuring timely completion and quality outcomes
  • Craft and deliver executive communications and presentations for senior leadership, including regional and global forums

Required Qualifications, Capabilities, and Skills

  • Bachelor's Degree
  • Significant experience with a top-tier strategy or management consulting firm or internal consulting / corporate strategy, including managerial experience motivating and leading junior team members
  • 10+ years of relevant experience, with a strong background in payments, banking, or treasury services
  • Demonstrated experience in managing large, complex programs and strategic initiatives, ideally across multiple markets
  • Proven ability to work with and influence a diverse set of stakeholders at the senior executive level, including across geographies and cultures
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work collaboratively, developing strong partnerships with multiple levels of employees across regional and global teams
  • Demonstrated ability to handle multiple priorities and produce successful results in a fast-paced, matrixed environment
  • Demonstrated experience leveraging multiple genAI tools and capabilities
  • Executive presence and experience creating and delivering executive presentations in PowerPoint
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, including Excel and PowerPoint

Preferred Qualifications, Capabilities, and Skills

  • MBA or post-graduate degree
  • In-depth knowledge of APAC payment systems, market infrastructure, and the regulatory landscape across key markets
  • Prior experience working in or with financial institutions in the Asia-Pacific region or globally
  • Familiarity with emerging trends in wholesale payments, including real-time payments, open banking, embedded finance, digital currencies, and blockchain-based settlement
  • Experience creating compelling strategic narratives for diverse stakeholder audiences, including regulators, clients, and senior executives
