The Opportunity
As our Accounting Controller, you will play a critical leadership role in supporting Amherst's continued growth and transformation. You will oversee all aspects of accounting operations, ensure financial accuracy and transparency, and strengthen the firm's financial infrastructure as we expand globally.
The ideal candidate brings a combination of public accounting (e.g., audit or advisory) and private industry experience, providing both strong technical accounting expertise and practical, business-oriented judgment.
This is an in-office role based in Taipei, Taiwan, ideal for a finance leader who thrives in a collaborative, hands-on environment. You will work closely with senior leadership, global affiliates, and cross-functional teams, contributing directly to strategic decision-making, transformation initiatives, and operational excellence.

Key Responsibilities
- Oversee all aspects of accounting operations, including general ledger, financial reporting, consolidations, and compliance with local and international accounting standards.
- Manage investment and real estate accounting, including valuation, asset tracking, lease accounting, cost allocation, and revenue recognition.
- Prepare and analyze monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements, ensuring timely and accurate reporting to management and stakeholders.
- Develop and maintain robust internal controls, accounting policies, and procedures to support business growth and regulatory compliance.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams on budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis to support operational and strategic goals.
- Partner with auditors, tax advisors, and regulatory agencies to ensure compliance with IFRS and US GAAP and local statutory requirements.
- Identify opportunities for process automation and improvement, driving efficiency and scalability in a high-growth environment.
- Provide financial insights and recommendations to senior management to support strategic decision-making.
- Partner closely with investment, asset management, and corporate teams to support capital allocation, forecasting, and investment performance analysis.
- Serve as a key finance partner on strategic initiatives — including investments, restructurings, transformation projects, and portfolio company engagements — providing accounting expertise and analytical support
Qualifications
- CPA or equivalent qualification required; MBA or advanced degree preferred.
- 10+ years of progressive experience in accounting, financial reporting, and controllership roles.
- Experience in both public accounting (e.g., audit or advisory) and private industry strongly preferred.
- Strong background in investment management, private equity, or financial services, with exposure to restructuring or complex transactions.
- In-depth understanding of GAAP and international accounting standards, including consolidation of multi-entity, cross-border operations.
- Exceptional analytical, technical, and communication skills, with a high degree of integrity, attention to detail, and a collaborative, hands-on approach
- US and other overseas experiences (i.e. Hong Kong) are a plus but not a must.
- Fluent in both spoken and written English and Mandarin
