Job Description

General Description:
This position is responsible for financial management, profitability, capital management and solvency of Manulife International Limited to meet the growth objectives and goals within parameters monitored by all relevant local regulators.

Responsibilities:
1. Develop, implement and lead financial strategies:
. Expense and Budget Management
. New Business and Financial Plans and Forecasts
. Investment Management of General Funds
. Pricing oversight and associated Risk Management
. Capital Management
. Tax
. Reinsurance Management
. Actuarial Valuations and Control
. Par Fund Management
. Overall risk management, including enterprise risk management and operational risk management
. Distribution payroll and administration

2. Preparation of required financial reports:
. Quarterly and annual reports (local RBC, CGAAP)
. Dynamic Solvency Testing and Stress Test Reports
. Others (including business cases for M&A and other investments as required)
. Monthly MIS on financial performance metrics

3. Monitor and provide advice to senior management on actuarial & financial matters.

4. Provide direction to day-to-day actuarial and finance areas.

5. Manage solvency and capital position.

6. Develop and co-ordinate investment strategy for the General Funds and ensure successful implementation of the strategy by working closely with Asia General Accounts Investment team - via the monthly and quarterly Investment Committees (IC) and seeking approval where necessary from AALCO and the local Board.

7. Co-ordination and preparation of materials for Audit Committee, Investment Committee and Board as required.

8. Co-ordinate and manage relationships with :
. IA, AMCM, MPFTC concerning financial and actuarial matters
. Manulife Financial regional offices (product, valuation, controllers, tax etc.)
. Manulife Financial corporate office in Toronto
. Exclusive bank partners
. Fund managers for the General Funds
. External auditors

9. Leadership :
. Be an integral part of the Manulife HK & Macau executive leadership group, leading the business direction and execution
. Member of the Asia Finance Leadership Team
. Key member of working committee with exclusive bank partners in driving business results and relationship
. Uphold and be a champion of Manulife's values
. Be responsible to recruit, develop, appraise and manage a high-powered Actuarial and Finance team
. Participate in appropriate industry leadership groups and forums

. Consistent, accurate reporting and MIS
. Commercial advice to the business
. Earnings, NBEV, product margins, persistency
. Expenses managed within plan
. Capital managed within plan
. ALM and investment performance
. Customer satisfaction on products and investment earnings on par fund

Education and Experience

. 15 years insurance experience
. 10+ years of leadership experience
. Qualified Actuary or
. Chartered Accountant / CPA
. Strong insurance background
. Experienced life insurance executive
. Proven leadership
. High collaborative skills
. Clear business vision and acumen
. Understanding of distribution models, systems and processes
. Strategic Thinking
. Presentation skills and Influencing skills
. Clear communication skills
