Job Description

Job Summary:

We are seeking an experienced and strategic Design Engineering Manager to lead our Electrical Engineering team in developing next-generation server and storage platforms. This role is responsible for managing engineers, overseeing project execution, and aligning engineering efforts with business objectives. The ideal candidate will bring strong leadership, technical expertise, and a passion for innovation in enterprise hardware systems.

Key Responsibilities:

Team & Talent Management

  • Lead recruitment, hiring, onboarding, and retention of top EE talent.
  • Develop team capabilities through coaching, mentoring, and structured development plans.
  • Define clear goals, metrics, and performance expectations.
  • Establish a culture of accountability, innovation, and continuous improvement.

Project & Technical Leadership

  • Own end-to-end hardware design development lifecycle from architecture through production release.
  • Oversee the hardware design development and resource allocation of new server/storage products and electrical systems.
  • Ensure technical excellence, compliance with standards, and manufacturability of designs.
  • Drive risk management and mitigation plans for schedule and technical challenges.

Strategic & Operational Excellence

  • Define and implement engineering processes, standards, and best practices.
  • Stay current with industry trends, technologies, and methodologies; integrate innovations into design processes.
  • Align team deliverables with organizational strategy and product roadmaps.
  • Develop and execute cost-reduction strategies through process and system efficiencies.
  • Prepare and analyze forecasts to assess departmental performance and trends.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's or Master's Degree in Electrical Engineering or a related discipline (or equivalent experience).
  • Minimum 12-15 years of experience in electrical design engineering, with at least 7-10 years in a leadership role managing teams of 10+ engineers.
  • Proven experience in server/storage hardware development.
  • Strong understanding of EE design principles, high-speed PCB design, power systems, and signal integrity.
  • Proficient in project management concepts and tools.

  • Strong leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills
  • Strategic thinker with hands-on problem-solving capabilities.
  • Experience driving innovation and continuous improvement.
  • Familiarity with AI tools in engineering workflows is a plus.
  • Ability to operate effectively in a fast-paced, matrixed environment.
