Applications are invited for appointment as Senior Communications Officer in the Faculty of Dentistry (at the rank of Administrative Assistant II) (Ref.: 528862) (to commence as soon as possible, on a two-year fixed-term basis with contract-end gratuity and University contribution to a retirement benefits scheme, totalling up to 10% of basic salary, with the possibility of renewal subject to satisfactory performance)

The Faculty is seeking a creative individual who is adapted to leveraging digital and traditional media to engage with local and international dental academic/professional communities, as well as the local general public to promulgate the Faculty's initiatives and achievements in teaching, research, innovation, clinical service, knowledge exchange, and continuing and professional dental education.

Applicants should possess:

  • a recognized university degree with 5 years relevant experience
  • excellent command of spoken and written English and Chinese
  • a solid background in corporate communications, event management, and media relations
  • strong writing, relationship-building, and crisis/risk management skills
  • a pro-active, effective, and enthusiastic approach to branding the Faculty
  • an openness to gathering feedback for self-evaluation and continuous improvement and
  • previous experience with content management systems and e-communications software, and a solid understanding of social media platforms (preferred).

The appointee will play a key role in formulating and implementing strategies to promote the Faculty. He/She will work with a small team to engage the Faculty's stakeholders - including alumni, academic staff, students, and industrial/community partners - to source and produce case stories that demonstrate the impact of their work to the community through knowledge exchange. The appointee is responsible for planning and coordinating the production of newsletters and promotional materials, handling media enquiries and press conferences, and contributing to the overall management of corporate relations with the press, local and international communities, community partners and Faculty's stakeholders. Shortlisted candidates will be invited to attend an interview and/or written test. Candidates with lower qualifications and experience may be considered for appointment as Communications Officer.

A highly competitive salary commensurate with qualifications and experience will be offered, in addition to annual leave and medical benefits.
