Research Assistant I/II in the Sau Po Centre on Ageing within the Faculty of Social Sciences (to commence as soon as possible for one year, with the possibility of renewal subject to satisfactory performance and funding availability)
Sau Po Centre on Ageing is a rapidly expanding centre that aims to become a leading research centre on gerontology in Greater China and the Asia Pacific region. Applicants should possess a Master's degree in psychology, social sciences or a related subject with at least 2 years research experience, preferably with clinical/therapy professional training with membership/registration of relevant professional bodies in Hong Kong or overseas. Post-qualification experience in mental health agencies, non-government agencies or tertiary education sector will be an advantage. Experience in evidence-based psychological interventions such as Cognitive Behavioural Therapy will be necessary. Experience in providing therapeutic interventions in Cantonese, organizing well-being programmes, managing databases and conducting advanced statistical analysis of treatment or service outcomes will be preferred. Experience of developing and validating psychometric scales, evaluating complex interventions, and participating in research projects related to family caregivers of older adults and/or cost-effectiveness evaluation will be an advantage. Applicants should have a good command of written and spoken English and Chinese (fluency in Cantonese is required), familiarity with statistical software (e.g., SPSS, R, Stata) and MS Office applications (including Word, Excel, PowerPoint etc.), and good interpersonal and organizational skills.
The appointee will work with team members and international experts to assist the Principal Investigator, Professor Vivian W. Q. Lou, to conduct high-impact research related to family caregivers of older adults for a territory-wide caregiver support project collect, compile and analyse data review literature organize project activities support the clinical psychologist to provide screening and risk assessment, individual and group counselling/psychotherapy, protocol development and capacity-building training liaise with the project team to develop a website and a web-based platform edit and proofread materials manage project expenses provide research support, and perform other duties as assigned. Shortlisted candidates will be invited to attend a written test and an interview.
