A foreign bank is looking for a China Desk RM in South Africa

Our Client is a leading international banking group, with a presence in more than 50 markets and serving clients in over 100 countries. We are looking for several Overseas China Desk Relationship Manager to join our Overseas China Desk team in South Africa. This is a key role that will be responsible for managing and growing the relationships with our POE/SOE clients cross China who reside or have business interests outside of mainland China.

The ideal candidate will have a proven track record of success in relationship management, wealth management, or private banking, with a deep understanding of the Chinese culture, language, and market. They will also have strong communication, interpersonal, and analytical skills, as well as a passion for delivering excellent service and value to our clients.

The main responsibilities of this role include:

  • Developing and maintaining long-term relationships with our SOE/POE/FI Chinese clients, understanding their needs, preferences, and goals
  • Providing holistic and tailored solutions to our clients, covering a range of products and services such as working capital loan, investments, loans, deposits, trade finance and cash management
  • Collaborating with other business units and functions within SAB to leverage synergies, cross-sell opportunities, and referrals
  • Identifying and acquiring new clients through referrals, networking, and marketing activities
  • Keeping abreast of the latest market trends, regulatory changes, and product updates that may affect our clients
  • Ensuring compliance with all relevant polici es and regulations

The minimum qualifications for this role are:

  • Bachelor's degree or above in business administration, finance, economics, or related field
  • At least 5 years of relevant experience in relationship management in corporate banking business
  • Fluent in Mandarin and English
  • Strong knowledge of the Chinese market and regulatory environment
  • Demonstrated ability to build and maintain trust-based relationships with high-net-worth clients
  • Excellent communication, presentation, negotiation, and problem-solving skills
  • High level of professionalism, integrity, and client focus
