Role Mission

The accountant is responsible for day-to-day Accounts Payable (AP) operations and General Ledger (GL) accounting activities, ensuring accurate and timely financial records, payments, reconciliations, and month-end closing.

The role will work closely with internal business functions, external vendors, banks, auditors, and regional finance teams. The position will also provide ad hoc backup support for Accounts Receivable (AR) activities when required.

Responsibilities

Accounts Payable

Handle daily accounts payable operations, including invoice verification, coding, posting, and payment processing.
Review supporting documents and ensure proper approval in accordance with company policies and internal control requirements.
Prepare regular payment runs and ensure payments are processed accurately and on time.
Maintain vendor accounts and perform vendor statement reconciliations.
Handle employee expense claims and reimbursement-related accounting activities.
Monitor outstanding AP items and follow up on long-outstanding or unusual balances.
Coordinate with internal departments and vendors to resolve invoice and payment discrepancies.
Support accounting for store-related expenses, rental, marketing activities, logistics, professional services, and other operating expenses.
Assist with intercompany invoices and related reconciliation where applicable.

General Ledger & Month-End Closing

Support monthly, quarterly, and year-end closing activities.
Prepare and post journal entries, including accruals, prepayments, reclassifications, and other closing adjustments.
Perform balance sheet account reconciliations and follow up on outstanding items.
Support bank reconciliation and ensure transactions are properly recorded.
Assist with fixed asset accounting, including capitalization, depreciation, and disposal records.
Support intercompany reconciliation and month-end confirmation processes.
Review expense accounts and identify unusual or incorrect postings.
Ensure accounting records are maintained in accordance with company accounting policies and applicable accounting standards.
Prepare supporting schedules and documentation for financial reporting and management review.
Support external and internal audit requirements and provide necessary documentation.
Assist in process improvement and enhancement of accounting procedures and internal controls.

Accounts Receivable – Backup Support

Provide temporary or ad hoc support for AR activities during team member absence, peak periods, or other business needs.
Assist with sales and payment reconciliation, including credit card, bank receipts, and department store settlements where required.
Support basic AR posting, reconciliation, and follow-up activities.
Work with relevant teams to resolve sales or payment discrepancies when providing AR backup.

Qualifications & Experience

Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related discipline.
Minimum 5 years of relevant accounting experience, experience in retail, FMCG, consumer goods, or multinational companies is preferred.
Familiarity with month-end closing, account reconciliation, accruals, and financial accounting processes.
Strong attention to detail and high level of accuracy.
Strong ownership and ability to meet deadlines, especially during month-end closing.
Good analytical and problem-solving skills.
Able to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced retail environment.
Good communication and interpersonal skills.
Team player with willingness to provide cross-functional and backup support when required.
Proactive, organized, and able to work independently with appropriate guidance.
Able to communicate effectively during meeting and email communications in Mandarin and English with regional finance teams, overseas colleagues, and external business partners.
Good proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
